Rory McIlroyis the Leader Of Golf's Brat Pack

Rory McIlroyis the Leader Of Golf's Brat Pack

Rory McIlroy joined a fraternity of failure recently when he blew a big lead in a major championship with 18 holes to play. No shame in that; nine of the past 10 players who held the outright 54-hole lead in a major didn’t win. It’s how McIlroy responds to the adversity that ultimately will help define his career, not the missed opportunity in AugustaRory McIlroy is nevertheless the mind of golf's Amazing Golf Courses You Should Play Within Whole Career Brat Pack - regardless of his final-round horror at Augusta. McIlroy inside the 1st three rounds on the Masters plus they experienced a ball jointly with 22-year-old Rickie Fowler, America's most thrilling youthful player. as well as although McIlroy surrendered a four-shot direct with an horrendous final-round 80, evening says golf's new breed nevertheless see him since the dude who will direct their assault near to the game's best honours. But Rory's a mate and i understand he will bounce back again from this really quickly. "He'll arrive back again more powerful as well as a whole whole lot more determined. He's only carried out nine or 10 Majors and he's been exact up there in 4 of them. Willis Reels Off Six Straight Birdies

Willis Reels Off Six Straight Birdies

Garrett Willis' devotion to his old putter paid off as he reeled of six birdies in a row en route to a seven-under 64 and the first-round lead in The Heritage. The American, who has struggled with his putting this season, had planned to put a new putter Golf Is Often Belonging To Young Man in his bag, but at the last minute Thursday he told his caddie to get "Old Faithful" from the car."Old Faithful" and Willis certainly got the job done, with a string of six straight birdies from the second hole at Harbour Town.He had three more birdies and two bogeys to take the lead in a round that was suspended by darkness after an earlier rain delay.Willis planned to switch to a belly putter this week but stuck with his longtime putter, which he calls Old Faithful. That paid off as Willis moved in front with his birdie run and broke free of a pack at six under with a 15-footer for birdie on No. 16. Garrett Willis had a run of six straight birdies for a seven-under-par 64 and a one-stroke lead at the Heritage in Hilton Head Island, S.C. Willis was a shot in front of Arjun Atwal, Matt Bettencourt, Chad Campbell and Tim Herron. Obviously, very excited about putting this well, and having a chance to making the cut for a change," said Willis, whose only prior US PGA Tour title came at Tucson in 2001 -- which was his first tour start. He dropped to 228th on the PGA Tour money list in 2005 and regained his card in 2009 with a 12th-place finish on the developmental Nationwide Tour money list. This season Willis has made just two cuts in eight starts.

Important Tips for golf beginners

Important Tips for golf beginners

Enjoy Yourself It may sound simple, but one of the best golf tips for beginners is to just have fun with the game. Keep in mind that you are probably not going to be getting your PGA card. Being competitive is fine, and of course you are going to want to continue to improve, but golf is a leisure game. Take your time out there and have fun with your friends. These three How To Solve Putting Problems golf tips for beginners can make all of the difference in the world. If you just get the right clubs to start, take instruction from those who know the game, and have fun, then golf will be a great way for you to spend your leisure time.
Your friends, relatives, and sometimes people who don't even know you will think they have the golf tips for beginners that will fix all of your problems. Granted, if you have friends who are pretty good golfers, it may help to listen to them when you are first starting. However, to really understand the game, as a beginner, get your instruction from a professional. Golf pros are experienced in fixing swing problems and explaining things to you in terms of how they affect ball flight. Lessons are available at most any golf course, and even just a couple will really help set a good foundation for your game A great way to make this happen is to think back to a time when you made a perfect swing. Remember the scene in detail. Then remember how it felt. See it play out in your minds eye and feel the way you felt then. Now swing. This simple exercise really works.

The competition between Rory McElroy and Tiger Woods

The competition between Rory McElroy and Tiger Woods

The 21-year-old McElroy has the same demeanor as another former phenom at the age of 21, Tiger Woods. The similarities do not end with their early success. McElroy was unafraid of a potential run by the legendary Tiger Woods on the final day of The Masters and many said his poke at the sleeping giant would come back to bite him.McIlroy Tiger Said The Swing Change Does Work meant nothing by his comment the week of The Masters. In fact, McElroy made the statement as a matter of fact. He believed in himself and in golf that is the key to success. Once a golfer allows his critics and his competitors into his head that golfer is defeated. This is true for golfing in a PGA major or playing the local muni course with buddies for 10 bucks a hole.Tiger Woods learned a lot from The Masters as well. He will never admit it but the comment by McElroy had to give him a not so gentle kick in pants. Woods was no longer feared. A 21-year-old kid was not shaking in his golf shoes as the final round approached. Woods was once again motivated and inspired.
The fact that McElroy collapsed on the final day was not lost on Tiger. Woods may not have won The Masters but he opened a chink in the armor of the young ball striker, McElroy. These two will meet again and it will be eerily similar. They are both on a collision course for the U.S. Open to be held on the Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland, this June.Woods won the last event he played on the course. The 2009 AT&T National was won by an aggressive Tiger Woods that year. With a golf major on the line this June, this could be Woods perfect opportunity to break his drought and pick up his 15th major.

How to first determine the speed then the break

How to first determine the speed then the break

Today we discuss long putts and how to first determine the speed then the break. Most golfers look at the break first. I first have to make a decision on how fast I’m willing to roll the ball before I decide how much break or curvature the ball will take over the surface it has to cover. The slower I roll the ball the more it will break or curve.I look at the green from 150 yards first to see any tendencies of lean one way or the other. If I threw a bucket of water on that green which way would it flow off?Once reaching the green you need to look at the putt from both Tiger Said The Swing Change Does Work sides to gather all the information you can about the surface you are about to roll the ball on. I suggest that you drive your golf cart to the back of the green each time, (being that most golfers leave their ball short of the hole on approach) and then walk around the back of the putt first. Try walking a half moon circle around the putt rather than straight to the ball. Look at how the green leans. Understand that the designer of the green had to account for water to flow off the green for drainage purposes. Find the area of drainage and you’ll have the keys to the “lean” of the green.
Look at the coloration of the green. Is the color a deep dark green and thick or is it light brown with very thin grass blades? Is it up hill or down? Is there a ridge where the ball will speed up on you and run by the hole? Make a determination while walking around the hole as to how fast you need to roll the ball.

Is Long Putter a welcome tool for golfers

Is Long Putter a welcome tool for golfers

Tom Watson declared that “it is not a golf stroke.” Other pros have been far more critical than that, ridiculing the long putter as a cheating broomstick. Whether the long putter is jammed under the chin, pressed against the sternum or poked into the stomach, for many purists the problem is that it is touching some part of the body other than the hands. The United States Golf Association, which oversees the rules in North America, has disagreed and that’s why long putters are permissible wherever golf is played. But permissible does not always Tiger Woods Teaches Korean Youth Golfers mean accepted. Some in the golf community wondered if a Scott victory at the Masters might even spur a backlash to have the long putter finally banned. When they first came out, I agreed with Watson and I still find long putters odd. I doubt I could ever see myself using one. But the argument about their being placed against the body seems specious. Many people putt with standard putters held against their forearm and have been doing so for decades. That’s not holding the club in the hands, either, and it’s not illegal. In fact, no one says anything about that putting style.
It’s only a matter of time before a major champion is crowned using a long putter, and I suspect the world will not end. Golf will go on. Golf purity is a worthy cause, but the game simply can’t take itself too seriously. It is already very good at that. The game needs all the golfers it can get. If long putters help some people with the yips enjoy the game more, or if it protects the cranky, ailing backs of some of our golfing elders and lets them play more often, then it is a welcome tool.

Tiger Woods will strong for his failure

Tiger Woods will strong for his failure

"The aura of Tiger Woods, which was the picture of health and the envy of millions for the better part of 15 years, died peacefully over the weekend at the home of the Masters, Augusta National Golf Club."Woods's putting stroke, which produced ugly misses from four feet at the 12th and 15th holes Sunday, and which hasn't been right for years, performed last rites on the aura. It took its last wheezing breath when Woods, having tied for the What Is Wrong With American Golfer lead with a front-nine 31, shot even par on the back and had his doors blown off by Adam Scott, 30, Jason Day, 23, and finally Charl Schwartzel, 26."If anything, Tiger's impressive charges showed us that the aura is still alive and well, that he's still capable of striking fear into opponents. For proof, look at the leader at the start of Sunday's final round, Rory McIlroy. The only thing that really changed on the leaderboard from the start of McIlroy's round, which was solid, until he fell apart worse than Terrence Cody's diet at an all-you-can-eat buffet, was Woods. Suddenly, he was charging. Suddenly, the crowd had a buzz to it. "Here comes Tiger. Rory's toast; Tiger's going to blow by him."
Sure, Woods didn't win the tournament, but we all expected him to win it. Sure, his putter's still wonky, but he's got from now until the U.S. Open to figure it out, because the rest of his game was pretty much flawless. Plus, Woods has never been good at comebacks in major tournaments. Ever. He's never won one from behind; it's his ability to keep the field at bay on the final day that makes him so scary. How does failing to rally from a five-shot deficit on Sunday mean that Tiger's lost it for good?

Woodland enjoying the ride

Woodland enjoying the ride

Now he's the latest winner on the PGA Tour, gutting out his maiden Tour win in the Transitions Championship last Sunday, where he made just one par on the final nine holes to win by a single stroke. Of course, the victory changed everything for the 26-year-old, 6-1, 210-pound rock who can hit the golf ball from here to Topeka. His travel itinerary Does Cherry Hills Deserve PGA Tour now includes a week at Augusta National for the Masters and a trip to Hawaii next year for the season-opening Hyundai Tournament of Champions. With his stardom on the ascent, the Tour decided to put him in the featured pairing for the first two rounds of the Arnold Palmer Invitational, beginning Thursday, with Tiger Woods."It's been a great 48 hours, and I'd like to keep it going," Woodland said. "I still have a long way to go. I'm not in all of the majors yet."He's headed in the right direction, however, and defending Arnold Palmer Invitational champion Ernie Els said Woodland is the future of golf.
"I've always played baseball and basketball, playing against older kids growing up. I love that. That's all I'm here for. I'm here for the competition." Woodland said. "You find ways to win when you don't play well. That's what I did on Sunday. I found a way to win when I wasn't playing my best. I attribute all of that to the sports I played growing up.""My course management was horrendous in 2009," Woodland said. "(Smith) told me last week I had to play conservative. I didn't want to do it but I did. It's something I'm learning, and I've got to keep sticking to it."(Fans) love how far you can hit it and they want to see it, it's exciting, and I don't blame anybody for that. But I wanted to prove that I can do more than just hit a golf ball a long way."It just proves that I'm working and doing the right thing."Woodland also has changed his ways off the golf course. He no longer plays basketball, baseball or any other sport.

Tiger Woods struggles with putter at Augusta

Tiger Woods struggles with putter at Augusta

The problem for Woods on a picture-perfect day at the 75th Masters was not his long sticks but the shortest club in his bag. Thanks to a passel of three-putts and missed short ones, Woods backed up Friday’s 66 with a 2-over 74 and headed to Masters Sunday seven shots back of leader Rory McIlroy, who stepped off the 18th green at 12-under.“I swung the club well all day. That wasn’t the problem,” Woods told reporters following his Masters Competition About The Tradition disappointing round. “Two three-putts and a bunch of putts that looked like they were going to go in....I just didn’t make anything on the greens.”McIlroy, for his part, carded a steady 70 to take a four-stroke lead over four golfers, including 2009 Masters winner Angel Cabrera, who draws the confident 21-year-old from Northern Ireland in tomorrow’s finale. The problem for Woods on a picture-perfect day at the 75th Masters was not his long sticks but the shortest club in his bag. Duty tore family away from watching Day's play for Masters

Duty tore family away from watching Day's play for Masters

Mother Dening and older sister Kim were glued to the television set at their Forest Lake home, in Brisbane's western suburbs, from the moment the telecast from Augusta began at 4am but at 8 o'clock, with Jason right in the thick of a crowded The Hot News Of Augusta National battle for the green jacket, duty called.Dening had to pull herself away from the TV to head off to the city, where she works as a shipping clerk while Kim needed to drop her son off at daycare before continuing to Taringa, where she works as a nurse at a dental practice.Bob Hawke once famously declared that any boss who sacked a worker for celebrating Australia's win in the America's Cup in 1983 was a bum. That prime ministerial dispensation surely would have applied to any member of the Day family who asked for it yesterday. But neither Kim nor Dening even thought of making the phone call."I think he was tied for first when I left. I kept checking my computer at work because there's no TV there. But thankfully I didn't have to assist on a root canal today because I don't think I could have handled it.
"I was just so nervous, not knowing what was happening."What was happening was that Jason, at 23 two years her junior, was making birdies at the 17th and 18th holes to tie with fellow Queenslander Adam Scott at 12-under-par.Unfortunately South African Charl Schwartzel, playing in the group immediately behind the Australians, was putting together an even more impressive birdie, birdie, birdie, birdie finish to snatch the year's first golf major away from them."Well, we recorded it so we'll watch it tonight when Mum gets home from work," Kim said."I spoke to Jason and his wife, Ellie, this morning and he was just ecstatic with the result. He was telling me he was happy just being at the Masters and to have come second was just a bonus."

Jason Day Wife Ellie Stunned Just as Much on the 18th

As riveting as Aussie Jason Day was in the final round of the 2011 Masters on Sunday, someone still stole a little of his thunder as he closed Woods Hit A Nice Shot In Masters out Day 4.And it wasn't champion Charl Schwartzel.Day's wife, Ellie, was shown as he ended the final round at Augusta in style, with a birdie on the 18th.And boy, does she know how to add to a rousing moment in Masters history. For a second there, I thought that was Elin Nordegren who had come back from paradise to join Tiger Woods in his demise.Poor Tiger. It gets you thinking: does having a hot wife/girlfriend help you at the Masters?Seriously, when Woods had Nordegren, he won four green jackets.Phil Mickelson has won three Masters, including last year's, with Amy by his side.Englishman Luke Donald, who finished tied for fourth this year, goes home to Diane Antonopoulos.Even David Toms, who hasn't won the Masters but won the 2001 PGA Championship, seems to be aided by his wife Sonya.

PAUL SLIVA, the ponytailed pro at Van Cortlandt Golf Course in the Bronx

PAUL SLIVA, the ponytailed pro at Van Cortlandt Golf Course in the Bronx

Mr. Sliva was waiting for his egg sandwich and glancing up at “The “Jerry Springer Show” on the television, where two women began cursing and swinging at each other. “Stripper fight!” Mr. Sliva announced as the woman behind the bar, who Woods Hit A Nice Shot In Masters had tattooed flames blazing out of her cleavage, made him that egg sandwich at the grill. A few others lingered at the bar — which had a plastic Bud pitcher for tips — at this municipal course just off the Major Deegan Expressway. Mr. Sliva’s next student arrived, a contractor from Yonkers, and they took a golf cart out to his regular teaching spot, in the left rough of the 15th hole. The route took them under the Deegan and the Mosholu Parkway. The underpasses were scrawled with graffiti, and even on the course there was the constant background thrum of traffic, and a steady stream of cars and trucks was visible.
“This is urban golf — at times, you forget you’re in the city, but it’s all around you,” Mr. Sliva, 48, said in his gravelly New York accent as he stopped next to a muddy pond and plopped down a bucket of balls for his contractor pupil, Tom Tuffy, 45, to hit.

What golfers do at the 2011 Masters' opening round

What golfers do at the 2011 Masters' opening round

The 31-year-old former wunderkind showed signs of rejuvenation this afternoon, coming from nowhere to be in contention. Remember, this is the same Garcia who decided to take a leave of absence from the game after last summer’s PGA Championship. While his mini-comeback today was nice, it’s hard to see it lasting through one day. With the Ai Miyazato Hopes Kraft Nabisco Chamionship Winning  exception of two top-10s in 2002 and 2004, Garcia has never finished higher than a tie for 28th here. One of the biggest bargains at the Masters is the prices of concessions. The total cost to buy one of every item they sell in the concession huts around the course is $50.75. In case you’re wondering, the most expensive item on the menu is an imported beer at $3.75. … The annual Masters opening ceremony took place at exactly 7:40 a.m. today. Honorary starters Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus put their drives in the middle of the first fairway. So much for Kaymer being able to erase his demons at Augusta National. The world’s new No. 1 golfer was once again done in by the layout. He birdied just two holes — Nos. 8 and 15 — and finds himself on the wrong side of the cut line heading into today’s second round. If he doesn’t improve on his 6-over par, it’ll be four straight missed cuts at the Masters.Retief Goosen, first hole, second shot How rare was what the Goose did today? Well, his eagle-2 from 161 yards on the first hole of the day was the first eagle on the first hole since 1987. He holed out using an 8-iron.

Young guns looking to ramble in golf world

Young guns looking to ramble in golf world

Fowler is the greatest imponderable. Having turned professional in 2009, Fowler managed to secure “Rookie of the Year” honours on the US Tour last year despite not winning a tournament.“Steek” did, however, manage to claim seven top-10 finishes on tour and, despite his failure to win any title anywhere, he has risen to 32nd in the world.“To have Tiger May Still Deny His Private Life a chance to play my first Masters, it is something I dreamed of as a little kid,” said Fowler, who, at 22, is the old man of the trio. “I’m playing well right now. I feel like I go in with high expectations. I feel there’s a chance that we could be walking up 18 in contention and that’s something I have dreamed about.“My game feels really good and I feel like when you’re driving the ball well and putting yourself in position to make birdies, you can make any course suit your game.”Sound like the innocence of youth? Or just sheer exuberance?Ishikawa’s previous Masters appearances have been something of an education for the 19-year-old Japanese player. Two appearances, two missed cuts. It’s unlikely to be a case of third time lucky, either. But Ishikawa comes into the tournament with a higher cause: to provide some solace to a country devastated by the recent earthquake. “I would like to emphasise the power and energy that sport can create for those people to encourage them. And it is my intention to play really well. That will be the best way to encourage people in Japan.”

Jens Klemschke golf instruction

Jens Klemschke golf instruction

Maybe his poise comes from a lifetime of premier instruction. It started with Jens Klemschke, the head professional at Highland Country Club since 1997. Klemschke remembers watching David since he was 5 when his father, Chris Chung, would teach him how to hold the club."I knew almost immediately he was special," Klemschke said. "When he was 7 or 8, he was hitting golf shots most adults can't hit. It was amazing how the ball was coming off the Woods Is More Relaxed Now club face."David moved on to the late golf professional L.B. Floyd, who guided two other Fayetteville men, his son, Raymond, and Chip Beck, to successful careers in golf."Mr. Floyd worked with David when he was 9 or 10," Elise said. "He was the first one that said he was special. We thought he was just being nice."David was home-schooled, which made it easier to accommodate his practice schedule. He entered a special program at Fayetteville Technical Community College when he was 14 to finish high school and attended a golf academy in Orlando, Fla., where school work and golf instruction were combined. When it came time to pick a college, David had his choice of scholarship offers. However, there was really only one college choice for David, who grew up idolizing former Stanford golfer Tiger Woods."He chose Stanford because Tiger did," Elise said. "When he visited Stanford, it was really special to him."

Asian teenagers Ryo Ishikawa wil become the continent's first golfers

Ishikawa, ranked 45th in the world, is a frequent winner on the Japan Golf Tour but has struggled in the United States, while Noh, ranked 67th, enjoyed a breakout year in 2010 winning the Asian Tour money list and the European Tour co-sanctioned Malaysian Open."I think Asia has a very a good chance. I mean, you have the likes of Noh Ryo Ishikawa Helps Japanese Victims Seung-yul and Ryo Ishikawa and other young players," Westwood said Friday of the continent's world no.1 prospects."The people in Asia will be watching these young people and if they don't get to be world number one, then hopefully some of these young kids watching these players will do so one day."Westwood, 37, who ended Tiger Woods' lengthy spell as world no.1, will line up against Japan's Ishikawa at the U.S. Masters next week for the first major or the year but South Korean Noh has yet to earn a place or receive an invite.Westwood, whose 17-week reign as no.1 was ended by Germany's Martin Kaymer in February, will then compete in the Asian Tour's Indonesian Masters."I am sure I will face tough competition. I mean the Indonesian players and the Asian Tour players are not going to be easy to play against. It's not easy to come and play in different places so I have to be in top form."

Set to challenge the Houston heat and blow kids’ minds, the unique tops in sizes 4 to 14 shift from one color to the next when the temp hits 20° Celsius (that’s 68° Fahrenheit for Quagmire’s friends in the USA). Transformation options for these one-of-a-kind SHO T-shirts include purple to pink, blue to white, green to yellow and orange to yellow.“Kids in the Bayou City will love these rad tournament threads," says co-founder Geoff Tait. "ColorFusion is the hottest thing going right now, and we’re the only source. I’ll never get tired the expression on someone’s face the first time they see the colors change.” An important maintenance note for moms and dads – ColorFusion shirts are built to last. Wash and dry just like the rest of your kid’s gear – the best part is taking them out of the dryer and watching the colors change back. In addition to the recently launched Quagmire Kids collection – which includes ColorFusion polos, shorts and hand tie-dyed t-shirts and polos – the Quagmire Golf line for men and women is offered at hundreds of green grass and off course retailers throughout North America. The company also serves as official apparel supplier to the Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy and the International Junior Golf Tour.
